Why have your wedding photographed on film?
Film photography gives you that something extra that digital can rarely replicate. The colours, the textures and the emotive feeling of film gives you something truly special and unique from your wedding day. In a world of AI and computer generated imagery, analogue film photography is the antithesis to this. That’s not to say that digital photography doesn’t have it’s place, it certainly does. Using both digital and film in tandem gives me both reliability of digital and the magic of film, which I’ve found to be an amazing combination for weddings. I predominately work with 35mm film and occasionally medium format 120 film.
Analog film photography has become a big part of my photography process in the past few years and now all of my photography packages contain some element of film within them. It’s become a key part of my style and approach to weddings and it has felt a natural partner to my digital photography. Having your wedding photographed on both digital and film means you have that mix of the two. Digital gives speed, reliability and a more granular coverage of the day. Whilst film gives the highlights of the day - it’s perfect for those raw and emotion-filled moments, the beautiful details and the portraits of the two of you. There’s a softness and emotive feel from film that I think just works perfectly for these kinds of moments on wedding days. By using both on wedding days I seamlessly flow between each medium throughout the day, giving you a beautiful collection of both digital and film imagery. Here are some examples of my film photography, but please feel free to get in touch if you would like to see a full wedding film gallery:
